Undergraduate Major
Bachelor of Science in Sport Management
Alvernia's Bachelor of Science in Sport Management program prepares students for sports industry management, law, finance, accounting, development, marketing, media, licensing, ethics, merchandising and special events. The Header School of Business faculty approaches business education from a practical and ethical standpoint, assisting students in developing supervisory and managerial skills necessary to advance their careers. Students are provided with an opportunity to seek out shadow experiences and externship and internship opportunities.
In addition to gaining specific competencies as they pertain to the sports industry, you’ll also acquire the critical thinking, writing and problem-solving skills that are necessary to be successful in today’s workplaces. And you'll do it in the ninth-best minor league market in the country, as ranked by Sports Business Journal in 2022, home to Major League Baseball's Class AA Reading Fightin Phils and the ECHL's Reading Royals.

Smart Ways to Save at Alvernia
About 99% of Alvernia undergraduates receive some type of financial aid. Submit the FAFSA and we’ll help you explore scholarships, grants and work-study so you can focus on college—not the cost.
Qualified first-year students may earn Alvernia merit scholarships and awards ranging from $23,000–$29,000 per year ($92,000–$116,000 over four years). That’s real savings that reflect your academic and personal achievements from day one.
Applying for aid is straightforward, and we’ll walk you through it. Complete the FAFSA and list Alvernia University (school code 003233) to be considered for federal, state and Alvernia support.
Need-based grants can reduce your cost without adding repayment later. Full-time day students who file the FAFSA may be eligible, plus renewal options when you stay on track academically.
From work-study and campus jobs to experiential learning and paid internships, you can earn money while building your résumé. Ask about opportunities like the O’Pake Institute Fellows Program and Alvernia’s Apprenticeship to Degree Program.
