2024 Berks County People's Choice

University declared as Berks County’s Who’s Who for undergraduate and adult education 

Alvernia University has been recognized as the Berks County college or university in the 2024 People’s Choice Who’s Who in Business listing for the fifth consecutive year and for the first time in the adult continuing education category. 

 

“Alvernia’s faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and community partners enable our university’s mission to serve the underserved and as an anchor institution in Berks County,” said Alvernia University President Glynis A. Fitzgerald, Ph.D. “We are grateful for the partnerships that aid us in meeting the evolving needs of today’s students and the communities we serve.” 

 

The People’s Choice is an annual survey that identifies the region’s leaders in a variety of categories as determined by Berks County residents. That information is used to determine which businesses and organizations voters see fit to receive the People’s Choice Leader designation for 2024 by fostering positive consumer relationships while providing valuable services committed to quality.

Alvernia recently celebrated 10 years of its groundbreaking Reading Collegiate Scholars Program that supports college readiness programs for students in Reading School District and publicly announced the university’s largest comprehensive fundraising campaign, Partners in Progress, a campaign to build stronger communities by redefining higher education. 

 

This academic year, Alvernia University was ranked as a national doctoral university by U.S. News and World Report, a top 100 university for social mobility and as an online college in three categories. The university was also recognized by Colleges of Distinction in eight categories including its business programs, military support, equity and inclusion, nursing programs, career development efforts and was named a 2022-23 national, Catholic and Pennsylvania College of Distinction.
