University named to Abound’s top 100 online colleges for adults
Alvernia University earns recognition as a 2023 Top 100 Best Online College for Adults by Abound, an organization that assists adult learners in finding the best higher education opportunities. The university also received recognition in three other categories: Best Online Colleges North, Best Online Colleges Pennsylvania, and Best Online Colleges for Military and Veterans.

According to Abound, universities must uphold the practices that create and reflect robust, innovative and flexible online programs, including but not limited to the following criteria: night and weekend access, strong part-time student retention and graduation rates, and affordable tuition to receive recognition in these areas. Universities must also be particularly effective in meeting the diverse needs of adult students, allowing them to achieve their educational goals while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.
"Our programs are designed not only to accommodate the busy lives of adult learners but also to ensure that they receive a transformative educational experience whether they are military veterans, parents, closing a gap in their education, or they are enrolling in college for the very first time,” said Alvernia University Vice President of Graduate and Adult Education, Gaetan T. Giannini, Ed.D. “Through flexible scheduling, personalized support, and a comprehensive curriculum, we are dedicated to helping adult learners achieve their aspirations and realize their fullest potential."
Alvernia offers 11 fully online adult, graduate and certification programs and over 50 programs with hybrid options. In addition, Alvernia continues to form partnerships to expand access to advanced-degree opportunities in the greater southeastern Pennsylvania region. Alvernia’s recently announced partnership with Montgomery County Community College University Center (MCCC) provides a 20% tuition discount on online bachelor’s degree completion programs to MCCC alumni, employees, and associate degree earners. The university also offers a 20% discount to County of Berks employees, employees and members of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance and the Schuylkill, Greater Montgomery County and Tri-County Chambers of Commerce.
The Alvernia University Veterans Center provides students with ties to or interest in the military with the resources, support, and advocacy necessary to succeed in higher education without membership fees or dues. Alvernia has also earned the military-friendly school distinction for ten consecutive years and national endorsements in military support from Colleges of Distinction.
