Abby Eby | Nursing

While studying for her bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Abigail Eby, BSN ’12, DNP '19, became a cadet in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and began training. She was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

After four years of active duty, Abby accepted a position as an emergency room nurse at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and set out to pursue an advanced nursing degree.

In August of 2019, she became the first person to earn the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Alvernia. Abby’s successful defense of her scholarly project “Nursing Facility Staff Education to Decrease Hospital Readmissions Due to Sepsis: A Pilot Test” earned her the distinction. “I would like to thank all those who have assisted in my education for both my BSN and now DNP,” Abby says. “I look forward to moving into the role of Advanced Practice Provider and continuing to be an ambassador for Alvernia University and the Nursing department.”
