Alvernia University Theatre is proud to present senior theatre major Aliyah Daniels as Hamlet. Conceived by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is considered to be among the greatest characters ever created. As a play, “Hamlet” has been in production regularly since it was first performed. Nathan Thomas, Ph.D., director of the theatre program, noted that with all the commentary that has been written about the title character, one of the very important facets is that Hamlet is a university student.
“Shakespeare shows us a person who is going through the challenges faced by many young people in any time period – family issues, romantic obstacles, questions of values and beliefs – and then a sword fight!” Thomas said.
