Alvernia's Bio-PA 3+2 accelerated track allows focused students to obtain a bachelor's degree in biology and a Master of Medical Science in Physician Associate Studies within five years.

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Alvernia's Bachelor of Social Work program offers a rigorous, caring and inclusive learning community, preparing you for employment or for graduate studies. BSW graduates who meet the criteria are eligible for Advanced Standing, meaning they can complete an accelerated curriculum to earn a master’s degree in social work from CSWE-accredited MSW programs.

Class Delivery Note: All BSW classes are fully online. Undergraduate residential students in the BSW Program take their general education courses in person. Commuter students should talk to their admissions counselor to identify the best delivery options for their circumstances.

The Applied Health program leading to an Associate of Science degree is a dual enrolled degree program between The Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences and Alvernia University. In addition to the Associate of Science degree graduates will receive a Diploma in Nursing from RH-SHS. The RH-SHS Diploma in Nursing Program is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

The Applied Science program leading to an Associate of Science degree is a dual-enrolled program between the Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing and Alvernia University. In addition to the Associate of Science degree, graduates will receive a Diploma in Nursing from JFMSON. The JFMSON is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program leading to an Associate in Science degree is a dual enrolled degree program between Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RHSHS) and Alvernia University. In addition to the Associate in Science degree, graduates will receive a Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from RHSHS. Graduates of the DMS Program are eligible to take the national credentialing exams through the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) upon completion.

The Associate of Science Degree in General Science aims to cultivate students’ understanding of the intellectual and philosophical foundations of scientific inquiry while emphasizing applied laboratory skills, data analysis, and scientific communication. The program develops basic laboratory techniques and safety practices, strengthens quantitative literacy, and provides a foundation in the natural sciences through applied coursework in chemistry, biology, statistics, and physical sciences. Alvernia's Bachelor of Science in Accounting program prepares students for careers in industry and/or public accounting, and they are encouraged to consider obtaining a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification at the completion of their coursework. The program offers a five-year business program that results in a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree to satisfy the 150-credit requirement for the CPA licensure. In addition, the program offers a concentration in fraud examination and provides the core competencies needed for students to excel in fraud examination and obtain the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation.

With over 40 years of history, Alvernia’s Bachelor of Arts in Addictions and Mental Health Treatment program is one of the oldest and best of its kind at the college or university level. It was recently ranked #10 among the Top 25 Small Colleges for Substance Abuse Counseling Degrees by SR Education Group, now known as Optimal.

Alvernia University's Associate of Science in Healthcare Science degree teaches students how to advocate for individuals and communities that are underserved or underinformed on issues related to health and wellness, health-system policies and health management. The program is an excellent opportunity for students at all levels, including transfers with associate degrees as occupational therapy assistants, physical therapy assistants, medical imaging professionals, dental hygienists or respiratory therapists.

The Medical Imaging (MI) Program leading to an Associate in Science degree is a cooperative degree program between The Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences (RH-SHS) and Alvernia University. Admissions for the program is through the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences. In addition to the Associate in Science degree, graduates will receive a Certificate in Radiologic Technology from RH-SHS.
