Biography
Dr. Kushal Adhikari joined Alvernia University in Fall 2025 as an Assistant Professor in the newly launched Civil Engineering program. He brings extensive experience in building engineering programs from the ground up, having successfully led the launch of Environmental and Civil Engineering undergraduate programs at Juniata College.
Dr. Adhikari earned his B.S. in Engineering from Visveswaraya Technological University, India, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University, specializing in water resources and environmental engineering. His teaching emphasizes hands-on, practical learning, and his research focuses on integrating sustainability into engineering practices to support resilient communities.
He has published widely in leading journals, presented at national and international conferences, and remains active in professional service through editorial work, peer review, and leadership in organizations such as ASCE, ASEE, and AEESP. His contributions have been recognized with multiple fellowships and professional awards.
Dr. Adhikari is married to Dr. Lochana Poudyal, a Transportation Engineer with the Department of Transportation. They have a daughter, Nature, who recently started kindergarten at WHEC, and are excited to be welcoming a new addition to their family soon.
