Alvernia University Commencement Ceremony 2019

Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 to be honored at First Energy Stadium

Alvernia University will honor the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021 in two separate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 15 at First Energy Stadium, the home to the Reading Fightin Phils.

The Class of 2020, who was unable to walk across the stage last May due to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, will be honored with a ceremony that will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Class of 2021 will enjoy their celebration during a ceremony that starts at 2:30 p.m.

Health care visionary Thomas E. Beeman, Ph.D., FACHE, FCPP, Rear Adm. (ret), longtime president and CEO of Lancaster General Health (LGH) and chief operating officer of University of Pennsylvania Health System, will serve as the guest speaker at both ceremonies. Beeman was originally slated to address the class of 2020 at the May 2020 commencement ceremony that was canceled due to COVID-19.

All COVID-19 guidelines, including the use of masks and physical distancing, will be followed during the ceremony. Sunday, May 16 has also been reserved if a postponement is needed due to severe weather.

A Baccalaureate Mass for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will be held virtually on Friday, May 14.

More information regarding the ceremonies will be shared via the Commencement webpage in the coming weeks.
