Biography

Professor Stilianos received her Bachelor of Science and Health Science and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Alvernia University in 2010. She has been an occupational therapist for over 10 years who specializes in geriatric and dementia care. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Professor Stilianos became interested in the broad dementia diagnosis while working in skilled nursing facilities where she learned that the misconceptions experienced by staff and caregivers when working with a patient with dementia were related to lack of education and understanding. From there, she began to assist in employee educational series, as well as new hire dementia training.

Professor Stilianos returned to Alvernia as an adjunct in 2016 where she taught Pathology for OT Practitioners, Adult Rehab, Occupational Performance in Geriatrics, Professional Writing for the OT, and OT Process. It has been an honor to return to the campus she previously attended, and she greatly enjoys bringing her clinical experiences to the classroom. Professor Stilianos also supports the fieldwork department and community-based experiences for the students. She continues to work with the adult and geriatric population in a variety of settings, and plans to obtain her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
