Who Can Apply?
Students can apply at any time. Graduate applicants are typically students who have just completed their bachelor’s degree or are working professionals looking to elevate their career by obtaining an advanced degree. Graduate students usually take classes on a part-time basis in the evening, online, or some combination thereof. Daytime, full-time programs include the M.S. in Occupational Therapy and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. Depending on the program, classes may be offered at Main Campus in Reading, Pa., at the Philadelphia Center, or at the Schuylkill Center.

Through a rolling admission process, prospective students may apply to Alvernia at any time for most programs. We continually review applications and accept students contingent on openings in specific graduate programs. Available start dates vary by program, but many programs accept students for each of the six start terms (August, October, January, March, May, and July)
Keeping on track is important throughout the process. We encourage you to work with an admission team member to submit all materials and meet all deadlines. Our dedicated team will work directly with you to identify the best options that work for you and your unique situation.
Once your application is complete, you will not have to wait long for a decision. For most programs, we continually review applications and notify students as soon as a decision has been made.

Applying is easy. For most graduate and doctoral programs, application can be completed via the Alvernia Applicant Portal.
For those interested in applying for a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), please submit your application via the below CAS (Centralized Application Service) links.

Please be sure to complete all required field. Additionally, please consider that there may be lead times associated with transcripts requests. The sooner you start requesting supporting documents, the faster you’ll be able to start taking classes.
Documents You’ll Need
Applying and submitting documents electronically is easiest for most students. When applying, please submit the following:
- Completed online application via the Alvernia Applicant Portal
- Proof of a bachelor’s degree and official transcripts from all institutions attended
Additionally, each program will have its own unique requirements and documentation necessary for admission. Examples include letters of recommendations, personal statements, minimum GPA standards, a resume or curriculum vitae, licenses, and certifications. Please review the graduate admissions requirements for your program of choice.
Veteran students are required to submit a legible copy of form DD214 (also known as separation of discharge papers) from military service.
