Spend some time on Alvernia's Reading campus reconnecting with alumni, faculty, staff and coaches at the university's annual Homecoming & Family Weekend. This year's edition will feature events from Tuesday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 9.

Blessing of the Animals – The Grotto – Noon
Join us at the Grotto at noon for this unique Alvernia tradition, honoring our patron saint, Saint Francis, on his Feast Day. Be sure to bring your pet. Please tell us you're coming (firstname.lastname@example.org) and be sure to tag us with your pictures on our social media accounts.

Virtual Bingo – Online (Zoom) – 7 p.m.
You asked for it, so it’s back! Our most popular virtual event is a great way to bring us together from across the country. Last year, we had alumni from 13 states join us. Bingo will once again be offered in-person on campus on Saturday, but this will feature a number of games and great prizes. This is a FREE event for all alumni, parents and families, and AU faculty and staff. Don't forget to register
- Friday, Oct. 7th
Field Hockey vs Hood College – Alvernia Stadium – 3 p.m.
Come to the stadium to support the Golden Wolves as they kick off the weekend for our athletic teams. **Field Hockey Alumni – please consider joining us in the President’s Box at the stadium to watch the game, as we honor two of our field hockey alumnae entering the Athletics Hall of Fame later in the evening. Pre-register to reserve your space in the box.
Alvernia Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony - The Flynn Plex - 6 p.m.
Please join us as we welcome the newest members to the Athletics Hall of Fame. You must purchase tickets in advance to attend this event.

**UPDATE: All of the Walker Hayes tickets set aside for Alvernia students, alumni, families, faculty and staff have been purchased.**
Come see American pop country music singer and songwriter Walker Hayes perform downtown, and be a part of a special Alvernia section. His opening act will be Parmalee. This event is open to all Alvernia students, alumni, families, faculty and staff. There will also be a special Happy Hour on campus for all who register.

Nerdology Pop Culture Trivia Game Show – Student Center, first floor - 8 p.m.
Think you know a lot about a lot? Are you the one who always has the answers to your friends’ questions about pop-culture, video games, and comic books? Do you rarely need to Google stuff? Then put a team together and compete in the infectiously fun game show, Nerdology! This program is an interactive pop-culture trivia show. A mixture of awesome games with fun audience interactions and Nerdtastic trivia. Play! Win prizes! Test your knowledge! Be sure to sign up.

Be sure to stop by the Bookstore (Student Center) to get your latest AU gear. Their special location for Saturday is next to the Campus Commons, at the entrance to the stadium. Take advantage of your alumni discount! You can also check out what they offer online.
Athletic Alumni Games and Socials
Were you a member of the Women’s or Men’s Basketball teams? Come show off what skills you still have with fellow alumni, or just watch and socialize. The teams will then gather in the Tailgating Lot (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to share stories of how good they used to be! To sign up for any of these, please use the specific links below, and the coaches will be in touch about when and where to show up with your sneakers.
Football Tailgating – Lot C – 9 a.m. to noon
Join us to socialize and enjoy your favorite pre-game meals and snacks, prior to the Noon kick off for football. This growing Alvernia tradition has quickly become a popular place to gather with fellow Golden Wolves. Stop by the alumni tent to say hi! Please be sure to check out the guidelines regarding tailgating.
Maroon & Gold Beer Garden – Tailgating Lot C - 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Stop by Alvernia’s first ever Beer Garden, featuring all local vendors (Oakbrook, Chatty Monks and others). All guests who are over the age of 21 will be able to purchase drinks at the garden. You will be asked to provide your official ID to be eligible to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.
Maroon & Gold Tailgating Package – Lot C – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We decided to spruce up the atmosphere a little this year and offer a special VIP area, featuring pizza from Nonno Alby’s, owned by Massimo Grande ’07, and a Beer Garden.
The VIP package costs $20. The package includes:
- Access to the Nonno Alby’s food truck pizza all morning
- 1 drink ticket to be redeemed at the featured Beer Garden
- A Homecoming Family Weekend T-shirt
- Beverages and Refreshments
- Live Music
Golden Wolves Football – Alvernia Stadium – Noon
Come cheer on the Golden Wolves as they take on Wilkes. If you were here three years ago, you know how exciting a great Homecoming game can be. Tickets are free to alumni this weekend if you sign up in advance. You can also purchase tickets at the stadium on gameday for guests when you arrive.
Party on the Quad – 1 to 4 p.m.
Fun and games on the quad for the entire Alvernia community. No need to sign up, just stop by The Quad and check everything out while you are on campus. Activities include:

- Photo Booth, with custom frame
- Spin Art collapsible Frisbees

Reading Science Center – Tent on the Quad - 1 to 3 p.m.
Our friends from the Reading Science Center will be here to show everyone how cool science can be. Watch a few demonstrations and even participate in a few hands-on activities. This is a child-friendly activity! No registration needed.
Golden Wolves Women’s Soccer – Alvernia Stadium – 4 p.m.
Come cheer on the Alvernia Women’s Soccer team at the stadium, as they take on Messiah. **Women’s Soccer Alumni – Join us for a social in the President’s Box celebrating our Women’s Soccer alumni over the years. Sign up in advance.
Evan Struck – Tent on the Quad - 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Speed painter Evan Struck transforms blank canvases into masterpieces in his hour-long show! With elements of Pop Culture, Music, Movies, Sports, and more! This show combines both music and color creating a multi-sensory experience. Make sure you check this out – you may even win one of the paintings! No registration needed, just stop by at 4:30.
Movie: "Thor: Love and Thunder" - Physical Education Center (PEC) – 6 p.m.
Join students, alumni, family and faculty/staff if catching one of the hottest movies of the past year. See what all of the hype is about, or check it our for the 2nd or 3rd time! Please let us know you are attending.
Golden Wolves Men’s Soccer – Alvernia Stadium – 7 p.m.
Come cheer on the Men’s Soccer team at the stadium, as they take on Messiah College. **Men’s Soccer Alumni – Join us for a social in the President’s Box celebrating our Men’s Soccer alumni over the years. Space is limited, as we had a full house last year watching the men win the game in overtime! Be sure to reserve your spot.
Homecoming and Family Weekend Bingo - Physical Education Center (PEC) – 8:30 p.m.
Bingo is back! Alvernia’s favorite game, full of fabulous prizes, tons of fun and we’re playing on the big screen! Bring your friends and family and try your luck! If you’ve never played B-4, this is your chance to have some fun. Make sure your phone or tablet is charged if you want to use a digital card, but we’ll have physical ones available if you’d prefer. Mass – Sacred Heart Chapel – 9 a.m.
Join the Alvernia community in worship Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for Mass in the Sacred Heart Chapel (460 Saint Bernardine St., Reading, PA 19607) to close out a week of Homecoming events. Please fill out the form and all information will be sent to you in a confirmation email. Please register for the Mass.
Champagne Brunch – 10:15 a.m.
Enjoy a brunch after Mass in the Francis Hall Atrium for one of our final Homecoming events. Unwind, enjoy some food, and talk with Alvernia community members. Please register in advance.
You Matter Movement Awareness Walk – Student Center - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The You Matter Movement was founded by Max Horn ’21, and focuses on mental health awareness. Max is passionate about spreading the word, especially on college campuses. Please support this great initiative and walk around AU’s beautiful campus and surrounding area into Angelica Park. This event is open to all of the Alvernia community.
