MBA student in the library

Robert Kelly, a 2018 MBA graduate, immersed himself in real-world learning experiences while attending Alvernia. In addition to his role as a graduate assistant in the university’s Franco Library, Kelly served as an intern at Carpenter Technology, a national leader in high performance specialty alloy-based materials and process solutions.

Placed in a highly visible business management office (BMO), Kelly and his team worked to troubleshoot, analyze and improve the operating model from raw material to finished product. Kelly gained invaluable experience in tracking the cost of poor quality, performing waste observation and implementing a standardized workflow.

Recommended by his professor, Dr. Tammy Gore, Kelly appreciated her assistance in obtaining what he referred to as an incredible internship.

“I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than this,” he said.

Post-graduation, Kelly began working full time as a process analyst for Carpenter Technology.
