University recognized by U.S. News & World Report for advancing social mobility and excellence in nursing education

For the fourth consecutive year, Alvernia University has earned a coveted 2025 Best National University designation by U.S. News & World Report. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Alvernia was featured among colleges and universities in the top tier of its designation. In the evaluation, the institution was recognized for driving social mobility and for providing competitive nursing education.


“The rise in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program rankings highlights what we see every day at Alvernia: dedicated faculty, strong student results, and students who are committed to academic excellence,” said Alvernia President Glynis A. Fitzgerald, Ph.D. “We are honored to be recognized as part of this group of colleges and universities in a respected and widely acknowledged measure of institutional quality.”


According to U.S. News & World Report, the National Universities offer a range of undergraduate majors, plus master's and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates.


Alvernia saw an improvement of 25 spots in its ranking of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The institution was also acknowledged for its performance in social mobility, a category that measures the success of Pell Grant recipients.


In addition, Alvernia recently earned national endorsements as a Colleges of Distinction (COD) for the sixth consecutive year and was ranked among Money Magazine’s 2025 Best Colleges.
