International Education Week at Alvernia
Alvernia University will celebrate 2025 Annual International Education Week from November 17-20, featuring opportunities to connect with students who embody the different cultures that curate the Alvernia community through food, sports, dance, meaningful dialogue and more. Students, faculty and staff will join in for events.
Monday, Nov. 17
Monday's offerings include a photo contest; a Mariachi band; Ddakji, a traditional Korean paper flip game; and an International Education Week Dining Hall Takeover, featuring two student recipes.
Tuesday, Nov. 18
Tuesday's offerings include IEW Cash Cab, a sushi making class, a War in Ukraine panel, and Canadian dishes (poutine, beaver tails, butter tarts) spotlighted at the Dining Hall.
Wednesday, Nov. 19
Wednesday features home country displays by international students, Friendsgiving, a class highlighting the Chinese game of Mahjong, Brazilian jiujitsu class, and Ecuadorian (Seco de Pollo with rice, plantains, Ecuadorian corn cake) dishes spotlighted in the Dining Hall.
Thursday, Nov. 20
On the final day of the week's celebration, the winners of the photo contest will be announced, a Peace Corps information table will be featured, a Polynesian dance class will be offered, and Asian (pad thai, Indian curry, tanghulu) dishes will be spotlighted in the Dining Hall.
