The Program in Educational Leadership leading to a Master of Education with K-12 Principal Certification is the ideal program for educators who want to make a difference in education. This program prepares teachers and supervisors to take leadership positions. Aligned with the general standards and specific program guidelines by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the program helps candidates meet Pennsylvania certification requirements in K-12 educational administration.
The program’s curriculum prepares future educational leaders to interact successfully with students, teachers, parents, school board members, and the community at large.Students graduate with both their Master of Education and Principal Certification at the same time, thus increasing their marketability.
Requirements for K-12 Principal Certification
Five years of satisfactory performance in the area of teaching certification must be completed before applying to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for Principal Certification.Applicants can start working on their time during the principal certification program at Alvernia University, but it must be completed to apply for certification.
