Confidentiality

The Penn Medicine - Alvernia Medical and Counseling Center staff maintains strict standards of confidentiality. We will not release any medical or mental health records or discuss this information with anyone unless a written request or release of information has been signed by the patient and submitted to our office.

Parents and guardians, student medical records will not be shared with you without the consent of the student. A student may choose to sign a consent form to allow health information to be shared. This consent is applicable to medical records only. Mental health records require additional consent. To share these records, please speak with your counselor.

However, under extraordinary conditions, such as when an individual's life is in danger or the safety of others is at risk, confidentiality may need to be broken. Please discuss any concerns about our confidentiality policies with the Director of Collegiate Health Services or our counseling staff.
