Application Instructions

For admission into Alvernia Online’s online MBA, you must have a baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (GRE or GMAT required if lower than 3.0). To apply:

  • Speak to an admission advisor
  • Complete an application
  • Provide proof of a baccalaureate degree and all official college and institution transcripts
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional sources
  • Submit a one-page personal statement on the values of graduate education for your personal and professional goals
  • Submit a copy of your resume outlining your professional and educational experiences
  • Provide additional evidence of potential for success (not required, but encouraged): items such as academic or professional awards, special certifications, samples of scholarly or creative work and completion of specialized examinations

Topics of Study

With our comprehensive accredited online MBA program, you will explore philosophies of moral leadership for the community, workplace, society and global world, as well as vital business topics that include:

  • Fundamental financial accounting concepts, including accounting information systems
  • Management theory and foundations of marketing
  • Basic concepts regarding financial decision-making and economic theory
  • Using accounting systems for managerial decision-making and problem-solving, including interpreting financial statements, cash flow, cost-volume-profit analysis and more
  • Effective and creative communication to promote teamwork and provide motivation
  • Marketing strategies and concepts, plus consumer behavior and new product development
  • How legal forces affect nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools and churches, including governmental regulations, employment problems and human resource policies
  • Using economic tools for managerial decision-making, specifically microeconomic theory and how it applies to various organizations
  • Financial management within an organization, including analyzing and planning financial performance and capital


As part of our online MBA, you will also need to assess an organization and develop strategic plans that will help it succeed in the global environment using case studies and applying your knowledge of different business theories.

Curriculum: Required Interdisciplinary Course

The online MBA program consists of 30-39 credits. The degree includes a required interdisciplinary course, an elective and a required capstone course.

A total of 33 of the program’s credits make up the business courses, of which nine credits may be waived by the admissions committee based on graduate program policies.
