How to Apply as an International Student
All undergraduate students must submit a complete application to Alvernia University along with all supporting documents listed below. Please keep a copy of all documents submitted to Alvernia as you will be required to show them again at the American Embassy or Consulate in your country. You should apply as an undergraduate student (seeking a bachelor's degree) online by submitting our Alvernia application or The Common Application.
- Click on the LOGIN button and create a new account for “First time users”
- When done click “New application” and fill in the application you want to fill in.
- Foreign credential evaluation from the previous institutions. But Alvernia can evaluate internally some high school transcripts
- To check your application status, go to Alvernia’s LOGIN page
- Once admitted, go to “Reply to Offer of Alvernia”
- Once admitted, go the "Reply to Admission" and submit the $300 confirmation deposit.

- Submit your official high school transcript. For a transcript to be official, it must be sent directly from the high school to Alvernia.
- Provide your English Proficiency score or Review our exemption policy below.
- Provide Financial Statement with minimum $43,000 available balance.

- Complete the online application.
- Submit your college level credits and request your NACES member foreign transcript evaluation. Foreign Credential Equivalency Report(s) of all documents must be submitted to one of the NACES member transcript evaluation agents. Suggested agencies include International Education Evaluation, World Education Services (WES), Joseph Silny & Associates, Inc. International Education Consultants (JS&A), SpanTran: The Evaluation Company and Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). You will receive your scholarship amount after we receive your foreign transcript evaluation which shows your Cumulative GPA.

English Language Proficiency
All students who are non-native English speakers or come from a country where English is not the official language will be required to provide proof of English proficiency. If you are coming from one of the below countries, you may be exempt from providing an English Proficiency Score:

Students may take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). English proficiency testing may be waived if a student has had at least two consecutive years of education in an American high school or institution of higher education. A transcript from the American school attended should suffice as proof of proficiency, unless otherwise determined by the Admissions Office.
Minimum Score Requirements:
- TOEFL: 75 or higher for the Internet-based test.
- IELTS: 5.5 or higher.
- DUOLINGO: 95 or higher.
- PTE: 60 or higher
- Pearson English Express Test: 60 or higher
- Manchester Exam: 360 or higher (undergraduate)
- Michigan ELT: 53 or higher
- Oxford ELLT: 6 or higher
Academic Testing
