Magazine: Launched in 2013, Alvernia’s Reading Collegiate Scholars Program provides up to 10 full, four-year scholarships to promising Reading-area students each year while also providing tutoring, mentoring and college application assistance to hundreds more in the inner-city school district. But the program is about much more than access to college.
Campus activities and organizations are among the many ways in which Alvernia students gain real-world experience, contribute to more than 60,000 hours of community service each year, and help the university remain deeply anchored within its communities.
Scott Ballantyne has a full teaching schedule, serves as faculty advisor for multiple clubs, and previously owned a financial planning business and an ice cream store. He also frequently posts on his YouTube channel.
