Bachelor of Science in Accounting '21
Margarita Cornejo-Jimenez transferred to Alvernia in 2020 from Reading Area Community College (RACC) to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Accounting. As a stand-out RACC graduate, she earned Alvernia’s Reading Collegiate Scholar Transfer award, a scholarship established for Reading high school and RACC students, with the intent to increase high school graduation and college attendance rates. Alvernia and RACC expanded their dual admission partnership to include four full-tuition scholarships to qualified RACC graduates. Cornejo-Jimenez transfers with her associate’s degree and enough credits to complete her degree at Alvernia in just three additional semesters!
“If you are looking for a university that not only provides you with credits to graduate, but goes above and beyond for you to succeed, then look no further. Alvernia not only has great programs, but it also has attentive professors who are willing to help no matter the time of day,” says Cornejo-Jimenez.
As a native to the Reading area, Cornejo-Jimenez always wanted to stay local for college and Alvernia was a perfect fit. “It was always a dream of mine to attend Alvernia University. Alvernia has great core values, as well as a great accounting program that fit in perfectly with my associate degree transfer. I was able to transfer all the credits needed to start working on my bachelor’s right away. “
As Cornejo-Jimenez reflects on this year, she talks about the impact the pandemic has had on all of us. “The pandemic has been difficult for all colleges/universities, but I cannot imagine myself being anywhere else because Alvernia has had our back every step of the way and has not let us struggle alone. The amount of help and guidance I have received from Alvernia cannot be compared to anything I have ever received from other schools in the past. I have no doubt I will succeed because I am in the best hands.”
