The ESL Program Specialist Certification Program prepares K-12 educators to effectively teach culturally and linguistically diverse students. The program's comprehensive and rigorous coursework is grounded in teachers' needs and emphasizes practical applications in classroom contexts.
Next program start is October 17, 2019.
Accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), this post-baccalaureate program is for the educators who seek to add the ESL Program Specialist Certificate to their Pennsylvania teaching credentials. After completing the coursework (five courses), candidates will apply through the PDE TIMS system to add the ESL Program Specialist Certificate to their teaching credentials.
If you are interested in obtaining the ESL Specialist Certification but do not seek the PDE credential, you can either complete the program coursework or apply for M.Ed./ESL Emphasis program.
The coursework is offered:
- onsite in the blended format: once a week class on main campus combined with online learning via Blackboard LMS
- online: coming in January 2020
