With all of you, I have been following the immigration controversies closely, especially the poignant and disturbing developments regarding the treatment of innocent children.
Since the mainstream media gives minimal attention to religion and religious leaders, except for coverage of Pope Francis, many of you may not know that the U.S. Catholic Bishops have, individually and collectively, been vocal and prophetic on the issues surrounding immigrants and refugees.
Given the importance of these moral issues and our identity as a Catholic university in the Franciscan tradition, I have included below a link to what I believe is an insightful, indeed inspiring, statement from our diocese’s Bishop, Alfred Schlert, who is now also an honorary Alvernia alumnus.
Peace and all Good, Tom Flynn
