Who Can Apply?

Students can apply at any time. Students in online programs are typically working professionals who are either starting their degree or returning to school to finish a degree. An online format provides students the flexibility to balance their educational goals with professional and family commitments.

 

Apply Anytime, We're Here to Help

Through a rolling admission process, prospective students may apply to Alvernia at any time. Multiple start dates throughout the year allow accepted students to begin a program of study at an accommodating time. We continually review applications and accept students for each of the six term starts (August, October, January, March, May, and July).

 

Keeping on track is important throughout the process. We encourage you to work with an admission team member to submit all materials and meet all deadlines. Our dedicated team will work directly with you to identify the best options that work for you and your unique situation.

 

Once your application is complete, you will not have to wait long for a decision. We continually review applications and notify students as soon as a decision has been made.

Getting Started

Applying is easy and can be completed via the Alvernia Applicant Portal.

  • To apply to an online bachelor’s degree program, please apply using the Adult Education Alvernia Applicant Portal.
  • To apply to an online graduate degree program, please apply using the Graduate Education Alvernia Applicant Portal.

 

Please be sure to complete all required field. Additionally, please consider that there may be lead times associated with transcripts requests. The sooner you start requesting supporting documents, the faster you’ll be able to start taking classes.

 

Documents You'll Need

Applying and submitting documents electronically is easiest for most students. When applying, please submit the documents listed in the accordion below that corresponds with your program of choice:

 

Applying to a Bachelor's Degree Program

  • Completed online application via the Alvernia Adult Education Applicant Portal
  • Evidence of high school completion/graduation. Evidence can include high school transcripts, diploma, GED scores or equivalent. This requirement may be waived if an official college transcript is providing validating the completion of 15 credits or more from an accredited school.
  • A 2.0 GPA or higher is required

Transfer students are also require to submit the following:

  • Official transcripts from all previous higher education institution
  • A photocopy of current Pennsylvania registered nurse license (submit after NCLEX is completed, for RN to BSN applicants only)

*Please note, the amount of transfer credits that can be transferred may vary by program.

Applying to the MBA Program

  • Completed online application via the Alvernia Graduate Applicant Portal
  • Proof of a bachelor’s degree and official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • 3.0 GPA or GRE/GMAT scores if GPA is lower than 3.0
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • One-page personal statement about the value of a graduate education for your personal and professional goals
  • Resume detailing your professional and educational experiences
Applying to the M.Ed. Program

  • Completed online application via the Alvernia Graduate Applicant Portal
  • Proof of a bachelor’s degree and official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Three letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic sources
  • One-page personal statement about the value of a graduate education for your personal and professional goals
  • Resume detailing your professional and educational experiences
  • Completion of the following background checks and clearances prior to fieldwork: Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, and Tuberculosis Screening
Applying to the M.Ed. with Special Education Certification Program

  • Proof of a bachelor’s degree and official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • 3.0 GPA

Student Veterans

Students veterans are required to submit a legible copy of form DD214  (also known as separation or discharge papers) from military service.
