The Office of Career Development provides career assistance to Alvernia University alumni.  Whether you are beginning your job search, contemplating graduate school, preparing for an interview, transitioning your career, or have a staffing need we can help.

Job Search

The College Central Network is an on-line, job and internship database available to alumni 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  In addition to full-time work opportunities, the site provides over 300 career articles and 60+ podcasts to support you with your career-related needs.

MyPLan is a career assessment tool available at no cost to Alvernia alumni.  Contact our office at career.development@alvernia.edu or 610-790-2878 for the License Code.

Career Advice

The Alumni Career Webinar Series covers topics that include job search tips, social media strategies, preparing for retirement, and many more.  The site offers a live webinar every week plus over 50 archived webinars for you to view at your own convenience.  Build a career strategy and get the advice you need!

Interview Preparation

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.  The Office of Career Development provides an Interview Guide with helpful tips on types of interviews, questions to consider, and post-interview etiquette.  You can also contact our office at 610-790-2878 to schedule an appointment to participate in a mock interview.

Résumé and Cover Letter Review

An updated résumé and cover letter are essential to a successful job search. The staff in the Office of Career Development is available to assist you with revisions and suggestions to your current résumé and cover letter. Need help getting started?  Click here to view our Résumé Guidebook.    

In person appointments are preferred, but email and phone consultations are available for alumni who cannot travel to campus.  Résumés submitted via email will take a minumum of 3-5 business days to review.

Volunteer to Help Students and Other Alumni

As an Alvernia alumni you understand the value of dedicated faculty, small classes, and personal attention. Consider sharing your experience with current students and new graduates. 

  • Post your company's job opening on College Central Network
  • Participate in On-campus Recruiting
  • Offer to provide a current student or recent graduate with a job shadowing opportunity to experience, “A day in the life of an Alvernian”
  • Host an intern
  • Assist with résumé critiques and mock interviews
