Crusader athletes help make MLK Service Day a success

The Alvernia Community began a service tradition on MLK Day—one of a series of 3 days Alvernia University has allocated for service in the surrounding community. Members of different organizations across campus participated, including the ice hockey and men's and women's track teams. Volunteers were divided into groups to visit different community organizations.

The Crusader student-athletes spent the day cleaning out the courtyard and gardens at St. Joseph Villa, a facility dedicated to the care of retired Bernardine Franciscan Sisters. The volunteers also received a tour, learned about the history of the facility, and met some of the Sisters who reside there.
