Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Admissions for Dual Enrollment is responsible for creating opportunities for high school students from the region enroll in dual credit courses at the University.  The Assistant Director will actively recruit these students and build relationships with the regional public, private and parochial schools expanding the course offerings.  The Assistant Director will manage all aspects of the student onboarding, grade reporting and any administrative function required by each high school.  The dual enrollment population will be monitored for year over year increase of ten percent or more annually.

As with other staff within the Division of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Admissions for Dual Enrollment is an admissions officer who provides counseling and support to individuals interested in attending the University.  The Assistant Director interacts with students and families, reviews student credentials and makes admission recommendations, and supports the general work of the department.  The Assistant Director will visit schools and manage a regional travel territory. 


Essential Functions:

  • Establish a yearly calendar of recruitment, onboarding and grade reporting to our high school partners.
  • Create a communication plan that provides updates to high school students interested in dual regarding new programs, majors and opportunities at Alvernia.
  • Develop and effectively train current AU students to return to their high schools over break and meet with prospective students enrolled at AU in the dual credit program.
  • Collaborate with college departments to increase the number of both courses offered and delivery of those courses.
  • Establish on campus programs for dual enrollment students and their families.
  • Establish ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion programs for Admissions and Student Financial Planning staff.
  • Create admissions materials highlighting the program and market the program regionally.
  • Perform roles related to admissions counseling - presenting, answering emails, connecting with families, read applications, visit high schools and participate in college fairs. 
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree and three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience in working with high achieving high school students.
  • Experience with and knowledge of college student affairs, student development, and student programming and mentorship. Strong customer service skills. 
  • Creative and innovative problem solver and developer. 
  • Experience with the coordination and implementation of programs that interface with faculty and academic units on a college campus.
  • Ability to be proactive and reactive to situations during group visits & events.
  • Effective written and oral communication and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and as a team member to achieve common goals, and to exercise sound judgment. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education. 
  • Experience with Slate or another CRM or tour scheduling programs is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Attendance is required in order to perform the duties of this job.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Evening and weekend availability on a regular basis. 
  • A valid driver's license is required.
