John A. Rochowicz, Jr. Ed.D.
Professor Emeritus of Mathematics & Physics
- Bachelors of Science - Albright College
- Masters of Science, Ed.D. - Lehigh University
Dr. Rochowicz received a BS degree in mathematics 1972 from Albright College; an MS degree in mathematics 1974 from Lehigh University; a mathematics secondary teaching certificate 1975 from Albright College and an Ed.D. degree in mathematics/computer science education 1993 from Lehigh University.
A member of the faculty since fall 1984, he has taught every mathematics course in the university catalog, Physics I and II, quantitative methods courses for the PhD in leadership degree and for the online MBA degree for the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Specifically in the PhD program he has taught Advanced Research Colloquium; Quantitative Research: Design and Analysis; and Advanced Quantitative Research: Design and Analysis. He especially enjoys teaching calculus I, II and III.
Annually, he judges at the Reading Berks Science and Engineering Fair (RBSEF) and serves on the Berks County Mathematics Championship Committee. He has been a referee for numerous journals and has published a variety of articles on analyzing and doing mathematics with technology. Currently he referees and publishes for the Electronic Journal Spreadsheets in Education. His most recent paper "Parametric Statistics and the General Linear Model" was published June 2014 in Spreadsheets in Education. A paper in progress "Harmonic Numbers: Insights, Approximations and Applications" is expected to be published in fall 2015. He coaches students for participation in the annual Higher Education Council of Berks County Undergraduate Research Conference. On various occasions, he has chaired or co-chaired this event.
