Jim Brown has served in senior positions in government and in the coporate sector. He is well positioned to answer these questions.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Hershey Trust and the Board of Managers for the Milton S. Hershey School. Previously, Jim had served as Chief of Staff for U. S. Senator Bob Casey and as Chief of Staff form Governor Robert Casey.
During his career, Jim has been a venture capitalist with SCP Private Equity Partners, helping a number of start-up firms launch their businesses. In this role, he has served on the boards of a number of corporate ventures. His career in government included stints as Pennsylvania Secretary of general Services, Chair of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Facilities Authority, the Pennsylvania Public School Building Authority, and a member of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Authority and the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System boards.
An attorney by training, Jim was a partner in the Dilworth, Paxson, Kalish and Kauffman law firm. In addition to this talk, Jim will serve as an expert in residence at Alvernia, meeting with several classes on campus.
