Back by popular demandl Last year's smashing success leads to an encore performance as Alvernia University partners with Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest to present the Hot Club of Philadelphia, an acoustic ensemble dedicated to 'Gypsy Jazz.'
'Gypsy Jazz' is the term used to describe the music pioneered by the legendary original 'Hot Club of France Quintet,' who were attempting to do their own version of American 'Hot Jazz'. They used acoustic guitars, bass, and violin, rather than horns and drums. After adding some French and Gypsy flavor a blend of music that is quite popular and accessible was created. The Hot Club of Philadelphia mixes the original style of along with their own modern influences.
Featuring Barry Wahrhaftig, Dan Pearce, Jim Stager, Joseph Arnold, and Phyllis Chapell.
