Academic Success Center Writing Tutor Level 1

Responsibilities include:

  • Tutor students one-on-one (and sometimes small groups) in writing and writing related tasks
  • Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions via the conference summary form and log notes into WCONLINE
  • Complete tasks assigned by the Academic Learning Specialist for academic support in the Academic Success Center and Grad Assistants that help promote the Academic Success Center and keep it running smoothly
  • Help students log in and out of the system
  • Assist the professional staff of the ASC suite with projects as assigned (mailings, copying, filing, preparing for events, etc.)
  • Help students using the ASC computers with simple computer tasks as needed (logging in, printing, etc.)
  • Attend staff meetings periodically
  • Help keep the ASC a welcoming environment by keeping it professional at all times
  • Complete at least 10 hours of CRLA tutor training, annually


Job qualifications:


  • A grade of B or better in the subject to be tutored
  • GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.5 in the major
  • Two faculty recommendations
  • In good standing with the university
