Alvernia's Seniors College - adults 55 and older

About Us

The Alvernia Seniors College program started with 60 students in 1998 and is now approaching a membership of 700. Alvernia University has offered educational opportunities to thousands of students over the years.

Seniors classes and clubs use the facilities of the University, as well as several other convenient locations. We also bring additional education to a number of independent living facilities, such as the Highlands, Heritage of Green Hills, Phoebe Berks, and Sacred Heart Villa.

The Seniors College has been integrated into the life of the university. We are welcome at all activities, participate in lectures, attend athletic activities, and take trips with the Alumni Association. Members of Seniors College are given free use of the library, with special memberships to include use of the weight room, and fitness center.

Seniors have many opportunities to interact with the University’s traditional students or attend athletic events. We even participate in fundraising endeavors, and community service projects. Popular projects include raising money for the annual turkey drive and working with the students with the soup kitchen.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to Alvernia University and President Emeritus Dr. Thomas Flynn. Flynn's leadership, vision, and sense of mission enabled us to grow our program and have provided us with ongoing opportunities for cultural exploration. Come join us!
