Involvement in a student club, organization, or
honor society at Alvernia College can provide students with opportunities
to meet new people, build life-long friendships, gain experience
and enhance leadership skills. Being involved means learning
a variety of skills: time management, communication, delegation,
career development, motivation, problem solving and budgeting,
all of which will help students beyond their college years. The
student clubs and organizations at Alvernia College offer opportunities
to suit the interests of all students.
How to Form a Student Club, Organization, or Honor
Society at Alvernia College
Alvernia
College strives to support the integration of formal classroom
knowledge with extracurricular learning experiences. Through
the formal recognition of student groups and organizations,
the College encourages students to develop clubs, programs,
and events that support and exemplify the core values and
the mission of the College.
No student organization may function officially on campus unless its
constitution is on file with the College in the Office of Student Activities.
Procedures for recognition of student organizations are available below.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Officers
of the College; such as the President, Provost or the Vice
Presidents; and the Alvernia College Student Government
Association (SGA) grant the ultimate approval of new clubs
and organizations. The development and recognition of new
clubs and organizations may involve a commitment of college
funds and possible exposure to liability and therefore,
must receive approval by the Officers of the College and
the Alvernia College Student Government Association. |
