Staying Connected

Thanks for taking time to read this mid-summer edition of the successor to Crusader Connection.  One more will follow, in August.

There’s still time to help with our annual Student Satisfaction Survey, if you haven’t already. Student feedback has led to all kinds of improvements over the years, including the Campus Commons and the forthcoming Plex, and your responses really will be helpful.  Just click on the link in the latest reminder, which was sent to you in a June 7 email.

If you are one of our new freshmen, check out the information on our Freshman Year Experience web site.

In the meantime, all best to you for a great summer.  Don’t hesitate to write or call if you need assistance with anything.

Real World Experience Awards

For the second year, Alvernia is offering Real-World Experience Awards of up to $2,000 to assist students with experiential learning opportunities such as Study Away experiences, Alternative Breaks, Service-Learning,  Internship opportunities, or Community-Based Research Projects.

The Real World Experience Awards are managed by the newly-formed Holleran Center for Community and Global Engagement, and the application for the awards will be available in July on the Holleran Center webpage. Applications will be evaluated on a variety of criteria, including academic performance, extra/co-curricular involvement at Alvernia, and the degrees to which the proposed experiences will add to a student's progress toward fulfilling our mutual mission to become: "Broadly educated, life-long learners; Reflective professionals and engaged citizens; And ethical leaders with moral courage."
