Educational Planning Center

Registration for spring semester began the last week in October.  By now, your student should have met with her/his advisor and should have registered.  If your student is on a “hold” of some kind, for financial or other reasons, please encourage your student to work closely with her/his advisor or the Educational Planning Center to learn what needs to be done to remove the hold and then to register.  If you have questions, please call the EPC at 610.796.8266.  EPC staff may not always have all the answers but can help your student or you identify and reach the correct university personnel to assist you.

Is your student interested in getting ahead or catching up on credits this winter break? Students can take advantage of Alvernia’s Winter Session.
Winter Session is a very useful option for students who:

  • Had trouble with a course during a past semester and need to retake it.
  • Want to lighten their course load for coming semesters.
  • Plan to earn additional credits now to graduate a semester early.
  • Just want to take a course for fun.

Undergraduate courses that fulfill major and general education requirements are offered in accelerated formats. Courses start December 15th or January 5th, and course listings can be found here:

(Students will need to ask their advisors to clear them to register for the winter session.)

Where: Francis Hall Theatre
How much: Free to Alvernia students, faculty, and staff.

Tell me more: “The Phoenix Always Returns” is a Pixar-like comedy about a small-town cat who wants to become an international singing star. She meets an ancient phoenix named Felix. The two unlikely friends have a series of adventures across Europe – including meeting Sir Elton John. (Yes, Elton John!) A fun and whimsical play about life, death, and friendship. Suitable for families of all ages.

Tell me even more: Our students are the first generation to *not* have regular, comprehensive instruction in the arts as part of their k-12 schooling. The number one way for them to experience the arts is if they’re invited by their friends and peers. The number two way is to be encouraged to experience the arts by the faculty.

How can I help get the word out? Visit our Facebook page and share images of our poster(s). (You can also watch some of our promotional videos which you can also share.)
