APA Workshops

Whether you are new to APA style, need a refresher, or have specific questions, you are welcome to meet with a writing tutor in a group setting to address your concerns. You will learn the basics of APA style, including how to use in-text citations, how to format your paper, and how to develop a reference list. No registration is required for these workshops, but please bring your assignment-in-progress, assignment instructions, and any questions you may have. Computers will be available for students to use during the workshop (unless otherwise indicated on the schedule). Philadelphia Center Writing Workshops

  • Tuesday, March 20, 2018 Practicum on Purpose 5:00pm [Computer Lab]
    Students in BH 404, 405, 406, 407 are required to write a paper.  This workshop will give the class an opportunity to ask questions about the practicum, focus on their progress, and make sure that they are in line with APA writing techniques. Additional information will be available for students perusal, as well as an opportunity to make individual appointments.

  • Tuesday, April 10, 2018 Capstone Power Powerpoints 4:30pm [Computer Lab] 
    Students in LDR 670/671 are required to write a paper and do a formal presentation.  This workshop will give students an opportunity to ask questions about formatting powerpoints, focus on their progress, as well as adhering to APA writing techniques. Additional information will be available for students perusal, as well as an opportunity to make individual appointments.

  • Tuesday, May 01, 2018 Final Frenzy/Brain Freeze (Ice Cream study session) 5:00pm [Rm 231]
    In the last week of classes, this open session will allow students to ask questions and get help with any writing/study issues that may arise before classes end.  Refreshments are being served in order to keep the momentum and energy levels high. Additional information will be available for students perusal, as well as an opportunity to make individual appointments.

These informative boot camp workshops are designed to help students conquer common writing challenges. These workshops are all offered back-to-back, but feel free to attend one, two, or all three workshops! This boot camp will also be available remotely through ZOOM. SPSS Workshops

Adult and graduate students are encouraged to attend Alvernia University’s IBM SPSS Workshops. Whether you are new to statistics and SPSS, need a refresher, or have specific questions, you are welcome to meet with a statistics tutor in a group setting to address your concerns. No registration is required for these workshops, but please bring your syllabus, assignment instructions, and any questions you may have. Computers with the SPSS software package loaded will be utilized by students during the workshop. For students joining the SPSS workshop online via ZOOM, an email will be sent to all students prior to each workshop with the link to the ZOOM meeting.

Students will engage in a comprehensive review of material from the different sections of the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE). Some workshops will include practice exam materials. This workshop series is intended for Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling (MACC) students currently enrolled in their internship course.
