What can I do with a major in Psychology?
The field of psychology is the science concerned with the study of individual behavior. The psychology major prepares students to study behavior and mental processes within an applied framework and typically encompasses both research and practice. This major offers an environment that fosters the development of critical thinking skills for psychology majors and other students interested in psychological processes.Strategies
• Gain internship in mental health facility• Gain volunteer experience at hotline, crisis center, Big Brothers/Sisters, etc.
• Learn another language
• Become familiar with governmental opportunities for psychology majors
• If interested in administration, consider double major in business
• Get experience in advocacy
• Enhance knowledge of community problems
• Gain experience as student leader/worker on campus
• Serve as a fundraiser
• Obtain experience with local media (newspaper, radio, TV stations)
