What can I do with a major in Communications?
A communications degree is widely recognized as the backbone of a wide variety of fields. In addition to the traditional arenas of business application and media, the skills developed in a communication major are now viewed as vital in law, government, international relations, health and human and social services, education, speech and language disorders, arts and entertainment and information sciences.Alvernia offers a major in communication that includes a broad spectrum of courses encompassing journalism, speech, film, and functional and creative writing for various media applications. Courses are structured to strengthen and develop practical experience in media-related fields through internships with local businesses, advertising agencies, and television and radio stations. English and communication courses may be selected to fulfill liberal arts core requirements.
