Seminar #1: (For future teachers)
How to Become a Marketable Educator in Today’s Economy.

Wednesday, June 20th
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Carole Ney, Alvernia Instructor and Student Teaching Supervisor, will discuss how future teachers can prepare themselves to be dedicated and qualified professionals in today’s market. Her presentation will focus on course work, student teaching and job hunting. Dr. Ney a former teacher/Reading Specialist/Administrator who’s rich history in teaching and mentoring her students has left a legacy of qualified and compassionate teachers all across the country. Among many of Dr. Ney’s professional involvements, she is a founder of the PA State Journal: Pennsylvania Reads.

This seminar is ideal for those seeking a bachelor’s degree to become a teacher. Learn about how easy it is at Alvernia to transfer in credits toward your degree and complete a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (Grades Pre K-4).

What Career Advancement Means to You as an Educator.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Dr. Robert Urzillo, Superintendent of Blue Mountain School District, will discuss the career ladder for current teachers and for those with Bachelor’s degrees considering a career change to education. Dr. Urzillo is a veteran Superintendent in his field for 28 years. He spent 13 years in upstate New York, and districts in PA. He is currently the superintendent at Blue Mountain Area School District and an instructor for Alvernia University.

This seminar is ideal for those seeking to further their education and credentials for career advancement in education.
