Two Distinct Programs
The English Language Program at Alvernia University Philadelphia Center offers two distinct tracks in which students can pursue their professional and personal goals. Semesters are 14 weeks in length and are offered three times a year.
Intensive English Program
- Focus is on academic preparation for study in a U.S. university setting
- Classes meet four days a week
- Six levels of intensive language instruction:
- Beginner
- Low Intermediate
- Intermediate
- High Intermediate
- Advanced
- High Advanced
- Courses include:
- Reading
- Writing
- Grammar
- Listening and Speaking
- TOEFL Preparation at levels 5 and 6
ESL Program
- Focus is on language development and acculturation- Classes meet four evenings a week
- Classes are multi-level
- Courses include:
- Reading and Writing
- Grammar
- Listening and Speaking
- U.S. History and Culture
