Students with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 for all undergraduate coursework taken are eligible to apply for entry into the program. The following undergraduate credit hours are also required for certification as an Educational Specialist I (School Nurse) and may be taken as a part of the student’s program at Alvernia if they have not been previously successfully completed (Evaluation of Bachelor's degree transcript will be done prior to acceptance):

Composition (3 credits)       
American or British Literature (3 credits)      
Mathematics (6 credits)
Educational Psychology (3 credits)

NOTE: Required coursework and credits are listed as known at the time this site was updated. The Pennsylvania Department of Education(PDE) conducts on-going evaluation of the programs it accredits and could require mandatory changes at any future time which Alvernia University would be responsible to implement into its professional certification programs.
