Bringing OT instruction to Haiti

Alvernia University occupational therapy (OT) professor Greg Chown has traveled and lived all around the world. This winter, he spent time instructing Haitians on hand injuries, trauma, burns and splinting.

Before the trip, Dr. Chown’s Alvernia OT students donated supplies and prepared splint packs.

“This was certainly an incredible and eye opening experience,” said Chown. “I worked and met with other clinicians from Notre Dame and other amazing organizations. I also visited a small clinic and witnessed amazing work, but also patients with unbelievable conditions (too graphic too describe) and living in dire conditions.”
