Flynn named to CIC steering committee

President Flynn has been named to a new steering committee of the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) to develop future innovation of independent colleges. CIC organized the 22-member panel to develop a plan that encourages independent colleges and universities to revitalize their missions and business models. The project on the Future of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges is funded by the Lumina Foundation.

“The work of identifying how colleges and universities can move forward in new and innovative ways is important and quite necessary given the challenges faced by our nation and within higher education as a whole,” said Flynn. “What is clear is that private colleges and universities, that are rooted in the liberal arts tradition, greatly contribute to students’ lives, enhancing their effectiveness as working professionals and helping develop abilities to serve as civically engaged community members who make a positive difference in the lives of citizens at every level.”
