Alvernia student receives SHRM Foundation AwardDate: 12/19/2013
Edwin Torres, a senior double majoring in management and human resource management at Alvernia University, has been awarded one of only 10 Undergraduate Education Foundation Scholarships from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The scholarship award is for $2,500.
As the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management, SHRM was founded in 1948 and now represents more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries. It has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China, India and United Arab Emirates.
SHRM scholarship recipients are primarily be selected on merit. Undergraduate applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and must have completed at least one human resource management course. They are evaluated by a judging committee based on academic scholarship, chapter involvement, and their level of commitment to the profession of human resources.
