Graduate enters Military Police Corps


A week after graduating from Alvernia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, Leon I. Geiger '13 took the Oath of Office as a commissioned officer, second lieutenant. Administering the Oath was Col. Deborah L. Geiger, Alvernia class of 1983. Pictured above, Geiger's mother (Teri Geiger) and uncle (Jim Geiger) pin on his rank during the commissioning ceremony.

2LT Geiger, a former ROTC scholarship student, earned the Psychology Academic Excellence Award at Alvernia and graduated cum laude.

He will enter active duty in September 2013 in the Military Police Corps where his first duty assignment will be Fort Stewart, Georgia. This summer, Leon is working as a Park Ranger at Blue Marsh Lake.
