Date: 3/11/2010

Kathleen V. Davis, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School at Alvernia and Associate Vice-President for Adult Education, has been elected to serve as Commissioner to the Future and Markets Commission for the University of Continuing Education Association (UCEA).

“I’m honored to serve as a Commissioner for the UCEA and so very pleased to represent Alvernia University in this international position,” said Davis.

UCEA Commissions are cross-disciplinary structures that focus member activities and professional development opportunities in core areas as identified by the Association's Board of Trustees. These Commissions and their core areas are: Futures and Markets (FAM), Learning, Instruction, and Technology (LIT), Leadership and Management (MGMT), and International Affairs (INTL).

Founded in 1915, the University Continuing Education Association (formerly the National University Continuing Education Association) is among the oldest college and university associations in the United States. As the principal U.S. organization for continuing higher education, the association assists institutions of higher learning and affiliated nonprofit organizations to increase access through a wide array of educational programs and services. UCEA also provides national leadership in support of policies that advance workforce and professional development.

Association Members include both public and private accredited colleges and universities, as well as nonprofit organizations with a commitment to professional education. Member institutions may provide pre- and/or post-baccalaureate level education to degree-seeking students, students seeking professional credentials, and those seeking learning for its own sake.
