Community Service

"Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth."
~ Shirley Chisholm

As a Catholic Franciscan college, service is an integral part of the learning environment at Alvernia. Local, national and international service opportunities are available for students to help foster personal growth and responsibility to their local and global communities.  Some service opportunities are listed below, but students are also encouraged to form long-term relationships with individual community agencies, thus embracing the mission of the agency and forming a bond with the people with whom they come into contact. For more information, to sign up for a service project, or to help plan service opportunities, please contact Sara Marks.

All Alvernia students are required to perform 40 hours of community service before graduation.  For more info on this graduation requirement, contact the Office of the Registrar.  Click HERE to log service hours.  Print and complete the form and return to the Registrar in Francis Hall.

Alvernia College Service Scholars are required to perform 40 hours of community service per academic year in order to retain their scholarships.  For more information on this program, contact Sara Marks.  Click HERE to log service hours.  Print and complete form and return to Kristen Nivison at the Office of Campus Ministry, 2nd floor of Veronica Hall.  In order for the hours to count toward your graduation service requirement, also submit form to Office of the Registrar in Francis Hall.
