Nonprofits, Boards, and Community Impact

Leadership Berks provides great benefits to local nonprofit and community organizations.

IMG: Non-profit boards

Field Work Projects

200 + hours
Area nonprofit or community organizations are solicited for field projects to be addressed by Core Program participants each program cycle. As a program requirement, each class of participants is assigned to a team to address the nonprofit's project, allowing practical field experience that leverages the interests and skills of class members with the needs and scope of the project. Recent examples include: feasibility or brand awareness studies, event planning, and marketing or communication plans. Agencies interested in applying for consideration should contact the office.

Community Leadership Placement

Each program cycle, the Core Program provides 25-30 participants who are prepared to assume community leadership positions with area nonprofit organizations. Participants are screened to ascertain their skills and interests and connect them to causes for which they are most passionate. Each participant is required to serve as a community leader for a minimum of one year post program completion. As a service to both participants and area nonprofit or community organizations, Leadership Berks hosts an annual Board and committee fair (January) in partnership with the United Way of Berks County’s Board Link. In addition to the fair and board link, the Leadership Berks Alumni Council identifies an alumna/alumnus who works directly with participants and organizations to connect community leaders with organizations who need assistance. Organizations interested in exhibiting openings via our partnership with United Way or at the placement fair should contact the office.
