The Core Program is designed to identify emerging and current leaders; train them about good governance practices; provide issues-based community orientation; and engage them as community leaders on local nonprofit boards and committees, in an effort to benefit the Greater Reading area.

The Executive Program is an exclusive “fast-track” community orientation program that introduces key leaders to community-related issues in an intimate, interactive setting. The program provides a backdrop for Berks County’s past, present and future, as well as insights into the systems that drive Berks.

The mission of the alumni council is to foster and expand the personal, professional, and community leadership benefits enjoyed by Alumnus as a result of their Leadership Berks experience and support the ideals of Leadership Berks by assisting with the achievement of the organization’s objectives.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to an alumna/alumnus of Leadership Berks in recognition for distinguished volunteer service and support for Leadership Berks programs. The award recipient’s personal and professional accomplishments exemplify excellence in leadership, exceptional community leadership, and extraordinary commitment to community engagement and service to others.

Program participants are assigned to a peer team to address a field project benefiting a local organization that allows for practical field experience with consideration to both participants interests and skills and the needs of the project. Recent examples include: feasibility or brand awareness studies, event planning, and marketing or communication plans.

Leadership Berks provides great benefits to local nonprofit and community organizations.
Many Berks area community leaders regularly take time to present lectures and projects to our Leadership Berks classes.
Many local employers sponsor participants in the programs year after year.
