The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to Leadership Berks program alumna/alumnus in recognition for distinguished volunteer service and support of Leadership Berks programs. The award recipient’s personal and professional accomplishments exemplify excellence in leadership at work, extraordinary commitment to community engagement, and service to others.
Timothy Snyder, Class of 2006, is an accomplished professional at work and in his community. He joined National Penn in 1999 as a branch manager and subsequently moving to the Cash Management Group. In May, 2002 he helped establish the Government Banking group handling relationships throughout the footprint of National Penn. As a Government Banking Relationship Manager, he was responsible for business development and relationship maintenance for the entire footprint of National Penn. Since 2008 he has been managing the Cash Management and Government Banking groups, while continuing his sales efforts related to Government Banking and today serves National Penn as a Senior Vice President.
In addition to his responsibilities at work, he is deeply committed to lending his time and talent with many professional and community organizations including as a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO), Government Finance Office Association (GFOA) and the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP). In addition, he serves on committees of Boy Scouts of America, Hawk Mountain Council and his church and is a member of the Boards of BARTA, and Opportunity House and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet of the United Way of Berks County.
Prior to his recent United Way appointment, he has supported and volunteered with United Way for the last 15 years having served as a Loaned Campaign Specialist during the 1999 and 2000 annual campaigns which ultimately laid the foundation for his interest in advancing his leadership development by enrolling in Leadership Berks in the 2005-2006 program. Deeply valuing the personal and professional experience the program provided, he continued to support Leadership Berks after graduation having served as a member of the former Leadership Berks Board through the program’s merger with Alvernia in 2009. Since graduating in 2006, he’s played a pivotal role in promoting Leadership Berks within the business community and remains actively involved in and responsible for identifying prospective candidates from National Penn and other businesses to enroll in and support Leadership Berks.
