About the Event:
“Arts and Poetry Fusion!” features Alvernia student artists and performers in conjunction with Alvernia’s faculty and the Berks Bards. The group will interpret the words of poets LIVE with painting, dance, and other art forms as the poets read.
There will also be an opportunity for a question and answer session with the poets and artists, and an open mic for the audience to read their own poetry. All are invited!
About the Group:
Berks Bards is a non-profit group active in the Greater Reading region since 1999. It promotes poetry as “living art” for ordinary people. The group hosts poets at numerous free public events and open mics., with guest poets ranging from Poets Laureate of the United States (such as Donald Hall) to emerging local and regional poets who use these events as a platform for showcasing their work.
Berks Bards is known for a month-long festival of poetry held in Berks County every year (in April) called BardFest, which hosts dozens of events in 30 days. Its “First Thursdays,” monthly readings, open to the public, are held at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts on the first Thursday of every month.
